HEY! I'm Maddie Hawkins. I am currently 17 finishing out my senior year at a local private Christian school. The majority of my childhood I grew up in a small town around Clemson, South Carolina, along with my older brother, younger sister, and my parents. Right before Junior year started my family had an incredible calling from God, TO GO. TO SELL EVERYTHING.TO TRUST HIM. TO GO SHARE HIS LOVE. TO MOVE TO GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA! This past year has been challenging, but one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have learned so much throughout this experience. Not only about a new culture, but the purpose of life, what is and isn't important, and who I am. The deep relationship with Christ I gained while being their has forever changed me. While being there one night, I was struggling, questioning God on why He sent me there away from everything and everyone I knew. Unexpectedly while scrolling through Instagram at 3am I came across an ad for the World Race, after seeing the Gap Year program I knew without a doubt that it was made for me, that this is what God had called me to and that from now I would just take each day, step by step and simply GO and FOLLOW. I am super excited about this new journey i'm going on, and absolutely can't wait to walk with you all on these next two years preparing and going.
